My proposal speaks about the death of classical painting, and how art can be transformed into something more complex and profound. Something that embraces more than just the mere creation of an image or the technical virtuosity that leads to its making. In my case, my medium is abstract art, specifically geometrical and kinetic abstraction.
I start by creating a traditional abstract painting and then, through my personal technique, I “destroy” this painting. I cut the canvas, I dismember the painting in lines to transgress its existence aggressively. I then repeat this process with a second painting. I will later regroup these paintings, weaving one into the other. Thanks to the collage technique the painting is again intact before our eyes, the painting is reborn.
The viewer will feel related to the final result because it seems familiar. However, the difference is in the conception, in the HOW it is done. Its body has been transformed and it is now a painting and a collage at the same time.
